The launch event for the ERASMUS+ RETEACH project, titled "Reforming teacher education towards green and digital transition in Mongolia,"," was successfully held.
The three-year national project was officially opened with speeches from Mrs. Enkhzaya N., Rector of Otgontenger University, and Mr. Batjargal Kh., State Secretary of the Ministry of Education in Mongolia. Additionally, Her Excellency Ina Marčiulionytė, Ambassador of the European Union delegation in Mongolia, conveyed her greetings virtually.
Ambassador Ina Marčiulionytė highlighted, "It is commendable that Otgontenger University is taking a leading role in renewing teacher education and enhancing the quality of education to align with future developments. The RETEACH project is not solely the initiative of one university; it is the result of collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Education and Science and various Mongolian universities. This collaboration plays a critical role in aligning the project's objectives with Mongolia’s educational priorities and achieving sustainable and comprehensive reforms."
The project aims to enhance the quality of teacher education in Mongolia and align the education system with European best practices. Otgontenger University serves as the project’s coordinator, collaborating with several institutions, including Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania), the University of Palermo (Italy), CESIE (an educational cooperation organization), the Mongolian National University of Education, the Eastern Regional branch of the National University of Mongolia, Khangai University, Darkhan Institute, as well as national organizations such as the Ministry of Education, the Government Implementing Agency General Authority for Education, and the Mongolian National Institute for Educational Research.
As a result of the project, Mongolia will adopt European teacher education policies and innovative teaching methodologies. It will contribute to developing teacher education programs aligned with Mongolia’s Teacher Education Strategy up to 2032, green development goals, and digital transition initiatives. Furthermore, the project will strengthen the capacities of relevant institutions and localize best practices for continuous professional development of teachers in Mongolia.
